Rhetorical Evaluation of " How to Control a Outrageous Tongue”

Being proud of one's culture and language is often times shed when immigrating to a new country. Even though criticized and attacked on her behalf culture, Fastuosidad Anzaldua details in " How to Tame a Untamed Tongue” that she refuses to let others force her to decline her lifestyle for the sake of belonging and explains to Americans and Latinos looking to suppress Chicano culture specifically that she'll persevere through the hardship to hold her identification alive and thriving. Anzaldua calls her readers to comprehend that the Chicano language and heritage needs to be recognized and that they be recognized as a distinct persons; that they are a lot more than nothing. Anzaldua begins with engaging someone by providing an individual experience of the moment she was sent to the corner of the class for " talking back” to her instructor when her intention was just to tell the tutor how to enunciate her name (374). In her second section " Overcoming the Tradition of Silence” (374), Anzaldua brings internal incite on the traditions of the Chicano and the boundaries of her language, promoting her credibility and supporting ethos with another personal account. The girl displays these kinds of different situations from her point of view, displaying audience what it feels like to live through these situations like a Chicano. Turning back and forth from English language to The spanish language, Anzaldua cleverly uses this form of diction to establish diathesis with the reader. She sets the reader to some degree in her shoes the moment growing up in America, not knowing every English word the lady was go through or noticed. It the actual reader feel rather uncomfortable or embarrassed for not understanding what the Spanish words suggest. Another sort of ethos exists when the lady states, " If you really want to hurt myself, talk desperately about my personal language” (378). Anzaldua uses ethos once again to demonstrate that what people value highly, all their language, is actually she beliefs...
